Maths notes for today:

1.
(a + b)²
= a² + 2ab + b²


2.
(a - b)²
=a² - 2ab + b²


3.
(a + b) (a - b)
=a² - ab + ab - b²
=a² - b²

[NOTE] For 3, you have to do the whole equation. DO NOT SKIP STRAIGHT TO a² - b²!


4.
301 x 299
= (300 + 1) x (300 - 1)
= 300² - 1²
= 90 000 - 1
= 89 999


5.
103²
= (100 + 3)²
= 100² + 2(100) (3) + 3²
= 10 000 + 600 + 9
= 10609


[NOTE] The formulas from 1, 2 and 3 are being used in 4 and 5.

Inverse Proportion

In short, no matter what, xy=k and x9y9=k is the same

Direct Proportion

AKA, when x and y are in [y=kx], they are in something called 'direct proportion'.

Yet again, the graph y against x in a direct proportion definitely has a straight line passing through the origin.
